This is as standard 8SE as they come. Out of the box, no wedges, no shock absorbers, just 8SE sitting on a cement patio. Digital Rebel that I bought in 2003 was attached to the Celestron f/6.3 FLR and screwed to the back-end of the scope.

The Bahtinov mask was cut from a sheet of hard foam. Tel, no it was not attached when I was taking images. All of the images had different artifacts. Most had double stars arranged horizontally. A couple of shots had triple star horizontally. One extreme case that I posted in the Beginning Imaging had triple star in a perfect triangle formation. One image was almost perfect with a very minor shift horizontally.

I knew immediately, that I had some interesting data having spent numerous hours before I purchased my scope with just the Digital Rebel camera and the 50mm Canon lens (that i also bought based on recommendations here).

I dropped the RAW 30 second frames in the DSS and to my surprise the very first processing attempt resulted in almost round stars without much artifacts visible in the RAW frames. I have not changed ANY default settings in the DSS. Literally, added frames (light and dark) and pushed the Register Checked Pictures. I then went to the Luminance tab and dragged the Midtone top slider all the way to the right and Midtone bottom slider all the way to the left.

I then saved picture as TIFF, opened in Photoshop and adjusted the Curves to get a bit more details.

In order to add details to the core (Trapezium region), I processed the 15s frames. I needed to ask a question how to align and further combine images in the Beginning Imaging part of the forum yesterday. Once I got the answer and links to the tutorials, I finished the image. Although it looks good (to my noobie eyes), but I see that I can actually get it even better with a bit more careful processing.
